S3E Start closed its first cohort with an Open Day on the 20th of July.

On the 20th of July, the S3E Start Program culminated in an Open Day event, where the first cohort of 13 research teams took the "stage" to pitch their groundbreaking deep tech projects. With an audience of over 200 attendees, from all across the European innovation ecosystem — including international investors, business angels, innovation hubs, higher education representatives and the general public, the event was a testament to the incredible potential and innovation in deep tech that exists in Southern Europe.

The event started with Mario Freire, President of the Board of HiSeedTech, the coordinator of the S3E – SOUTHERN EUROPEAN ENTREPRENEURSHIP ENGINE project, where he welcome the audience and introduced Daniel Gassman, the Head of Sector Ecosystems and (EIC) Prizes at EISMEA. In his presentation, Daniel Gassman gave an overview of the New European Agenda and focused its intervention on the main instruments EIC has for researchers (Pathfinder, Transition, and Accelerator).

The event was further enriched by Pedro Vilarinho, who provided an overview of the S3E Start program. He elucidated the program's objectives, milestones, and the remarkable progress made by the first cohort of research teams. Pedro's presentation gave the audience a comprehensive understanding of the program's impact on the deep tech ecosystem. After this, the spotlight shifted to Roger Debo who hosted the session, provided an insightful presentation on deep tech entrepreneurship, and introduced the 2023 projects to the audience.
