Are you part of a research team ready to turn your scientific breakthrough into real-world impact? HiTech 2026 applications are now open.

Designed and delivered by HiSeedTech, HiTech is a hands-on programme specifically created for research teams based in Portugal developing deep tech projects.

Over 18 weeks of training, workshops and mentoring, HiTech provides teams with essential skills in knowledge commercialisation, empowering them to transform cutting-edge technologies and scientific discoveries into high-growth business opportunities.

Since its launch, more than 900 researchers have participated in the programme, leading to the creation of 63 start-ups and contributing to the success of 44% of Portuguese EIC Accelerator–funded start-ups, which began their journey through HiTech.

HiTech helps research teams to:

• Link science and technology to product and market needs
• Communicate scientific results effectively to a business audience
• Evaluate alternative paths to move technologies to market
• Align research with Horizon Europe’s goals, by increasing impact and improving dissemination and exploitation strategies

The 2026 edition features two tracks:

• Market Pull Track – Address real-world challenges proposed by INDAQUA, Quantum Leap, Sonae Arauco and Triangle's Cycling Equipments. [View challenge descriptions here].
• Technology Push Track – develop and commercialise your own deep-tech project.

Whether your goal is to solve specific industry challenges or bring your research project to market, HiTech offers the guidance and structure to support your journey from lab to market.

At the end of the programme, each team delivers:

• a business case for a product or service concept generated from their research;
• a pitch presentation that clearly communicates the commercial potential of their innovation.
