On June 18th, over 230 participants from across the European deep tech ecosystem registered to watch the S3E Start Open Day. The event was held at the BBVA Tivoli Theatre with a restricted audience and was livestreamed. The audience included HiSeedTech member companies, international investors, business angels, innovation hubs, higher education representatives, corporates, researchers, and deep tech enthusiasts. This event showcased the incredible potential and innovation in deep tech in Southern Europe, marking the culmination of 20 weeks of hard work by the 14 research teams in the S3E Start program.

The event began with a welcome from Mario Freire, President of the Board of HiSeedTech, which is the coordinator of the S3E – Southern European Entrepreneurship Engine project. This was followed by a welcome message from Daniel Gassman, Head of Sector Ecosystems and Prizes at EISMEA - European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency, highlighting the main topics of the New European Agenda and how S3E fits its goals.

Pedro Vilarinho then provided an overview of the S3E Start program, highlighting its goals, milestones, and the remarkable progress made by the second cohort of research teams. The session was hosted by Roger Debo, who also delivered an insightful presentation on deep tech entrepreneurship and introduced the 2024 projects to the audience.
